FAQ

Please also view our Terms and Conditions.

What time is check in and check out?
Check in is from 4pm. Check out is by noon. Requests for early arrival or late check out are accommodated whenever possible. Please check on the day of your intended arrival or departure for availability.

Do you accept children?
The Peak at Mt Kanimbla is designed for adults seeking a tranquil atmosphere, and the chalets have been built exclusively to accommodate couples only. Regretfully, children cannot be accommodated.

Do you accept pets?
We do not accept any pets.

Is there a minimum stay?
There is a two night minimum stay. A three night minimum stay applies on public holiday weekends.

Is smoking permitted?
To maintain the immaculate presentation and freshness of the chalets, smoking is not permitted inside. During periods of high fire risk, particularly in the warmer months, we also ask guests to refrain from smoking on the property.

Does your daily rate include breakfast?
Provisions are included to make your own hearty breakfast. Typically this will include fresh eggs, bacon, orange juice, seasonal fruits, yogurt, cereals, muffins or croissants and warm homemade bread. Your chalet will be stocked with breakfast provisions prior to your arrival.

Do you cater for guests with special dietary requests?
Yes, we cater for special requirements where possible. Please advise us of any requirements or restrictions when booking.

What facilities do you have for self-catering?
The chalets have a fully equipped kitchen with stove, oven, grill, microwave, fridge, sink, cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. An outdoor gas BBQ is also available for your exclusive use.

What options are there for eating out?
There are several fine places to dine in the area, including two of NSW's most prized, out of town restaurants less than 20 minutes away. Bookings can be arranged on your behalf.

Where can I obtain food and grocery supplies?
There are no supermarkets, liquor stores or food outlets in the area, so advance planning is recommended. The closest supermarkets are at Katoomba (Coles), Blackheath (small IGA supermarket and AMPOL convenience store that is open late) and Lithgow (Woolworths, Coles and Bi-Lo).

What is your cancellation policy?
Given that The Peak at Mt Kanimbla is a small and intimate retreat, cancellations affect us significantly. If you must cancel, please notify us at least 14 days prior to your intended arrival. Your deposit will be refunded, less a $45 booking fee.
If less than 14 days notice is given, your deposit becomes non-refundable. We will make every effort to rebook your chalet, and if we are able to do so, your deposit will refunded, less the $50 booking fee.
If it becomes necessary for you to depart earlier than your confirmed reservation dates, you will be charged for all the nights booked and any costs already incurred for other activities.

Are the hot tubs chlorinated?
No. The hot tubs use an ozone system that keeps the water clean and crystal clear, has no odour and is gentle on the skin. Please note that if you use massage oils, we ask that you shower before entering the hot tub as the oil can clog the spa filters. Bubble bath oils, soaps or bath bombs also clog the filters so are not allowed. The chemicals used in spray-on tans also have a detrimental affect on the filters.
Please note that a $350 fee is payable for any misuse of the hot tub. Full information is also provided to you when you check in so you know what not to do.

Do you offer massages and pampering treatments?
The perfect way to unwind! Massages, facials and body treatments can be arranged in the privacy of your own chalet. Advance notice is recommended and a minimum of two 1-hour treatments per couple (or one 2-hour treatment) applies. These are reasonably priced with a number of options available. Contact The Peak for a list of available treatments.

What do we do when we arrive at The Peak?
Upon entering the property please follow the signs to reception, which is in the main homestead. We will ask you to come in and complete a registration form first and then we escort you (by car) to your chalet where you will be given a short orientation.

What should I bring?
There can be four seasons in one day in the mountains so it is recommended that you pack suitable warm clothes. Sunscreen, insect repellent and sensible shoes are also strongly recommended. Also remember to bring your favourite CDs, DVDs, videos and books. We also have a small range that you can borrow from.
Linen, towels, robes and slippers are included.
If you are dining out, neat casual attire is most appropriate.
If you are staying in . . . well, does it matter?

How large is the property?
The property and grounds cover about 32 acres of native Australian bushland, including the Kanimbla peak. Guests may wander up to the lookout at the Peak however we ask that you respect the privacy of other guests and not go near the other chalet and not to trespass onto neighbouring land.

Do you provide a booking service for other Blue Mountains attractions and activities?
Yes, as a convenience to guests we are pleased to make suggestions and recommendations for excursions and other activities. This information is given in good faith. Guests indulge in their pursuits at their own risk and The Peak at Mt Kanimbla (owners and staff) does not accept responsibility.

Do you cater for special celebrations?
Yes. If provided with sufficient notice we can arrange something special for the occasion. We can order your favourite flowers, anniversary gifts, cook a favourite meal, arrange a cheese platter on arrival etc.
